Cat Ba Island Escape
Located in Halong Bay, an archipelago of islands comprising wisps of green clinging to their sheer cliff faces, Cat Ba Island is the largest of its kind and is a favourite with both international and Vietnamese tourists. While the main hub of Cat Ba town has been reserved for tourism infrastructure with hotels, restaurants and bars lining the streets, the rest of the island is still covered in pristine wilderness, half of which has been declared a national park in order to keep it that way. Most travellers visit Cat Ba Island as part of a tour around Halong Bay but it is possible to go independently as well.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi – Cat Ba Island.
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi then drive to Cat Hai on Vietnam’s the most modern highway and South East Asia’s longest cross-sea bridge. Take a ferry from Ben Got on Cat Hai Island to Cai Vieng on Cat Ba Island (20 minutes). Keep driving 30 minutes through rugged hills on the island and along seaside to Cat Ba Town. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure. You may like to swim on its beautiful beach or explore Cat Ba Town yourselves.
Our recommendation: Sunset on the sea are romantic, especially in Cat Ba, where there are rocks undulating on the sea. The most appropriate location for you to watch the sunset is Cannon Fortress, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole town from above. Additionally, you can come earlier to visit the relics left over from the war.

Day 2: Cat Ba Island – Free at leisure.
The whole day is free on beach. There are some optional tours of Cat Ba for your choice:
– Hiking in Cat Ba National Park (1/2 day).
– Cat Ba National Park: Hiking – Cycling (full day).
– Swimming and exploring the Monkey Island.
– Sailing and kayaking expedition in Lan Ha Bay.
– Visit Mangrove Forest & Thien Long Cave (1/2 day).
Meals: Breakfast.
Accommodation: Hotel on Cat Ba Island.
Day 3: Cat Ba Island – Hai Phong – Hanoi.
You are free in the morning or take part in a half day tour of Cat Ba. After lunch, take the same way back to Hanoi. End of service.
